In a concerted effort to engage young people in productive activities and steer them away from drugs and antisocial behavior, the Department of Social Welfare organized a one-day "Nasha Mukht Khel Mela" (Drug-Free Sports Festival) in Chandak, Poonch district, with enthusiastic participation from over 1,000 players from various parts of the district.

The large-scale sporting event was inaugurated by Poonch Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Sharma, who emphasized the crucial role of sports in fostering a healthy and disciplined society. Addressing the audience, he stated that such initiatives help channelize the energy of young people towards positive pursuits and significantly contribute to creating a drug-free environment.

Highlighting the administration's commitment, the Deputy Commissioner said that sports not only promote physical fitness but also instill values such as discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility among young people. He added that the district administration would continue to support activities that encourage healthy lifestyles and social well-being.

The event featured a variety of competitions, including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Stone Lifting, and Short Put, attracting large crowds and creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day. Players demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, talent, and sportsmanship.

Officials from the Department of Social Welfare reiterated their commitment to continuing awareness drives and community-based programs under the "Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan" (Drug-Free India Campaign) to effectively combat drug abuse in the region.

Local residents and participating youth praised the efforts of the district administration and the Department of Social Welfare for providing a positive platform and expressed hope that such sporting events would be organized regularly in the future.
