Security Tightened After Pakistan Reportedly Violates Ceasefire Understanding
Bhuj, May 10 – A complete blackout was enforced across Gujarat’s Kutch district on Saturday evening after multiple drones were spotted near the international border, raising immediate security concerns.The action comes just hours after India and Pakistan reached a bilateral understanding to halt all firing and military activity. However, reports of alleged ceasefire violations from Pakistan triggered rapid emergency measures in the border state.
Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi took to X to alert the public, stating, “Several drones have been spotted in the Kutch district. A complete blackout will be implemented now. Please stay safe, don’t panic.”
Blackout Expands Beyond Kutch
Kutch Collector Anand Patel issued an official statement declaring the blackout effective across the entire district. “A blackout is declared in the entire Kutch district with immediate effect and all citizens are asked to strictly follow it,” said Patel.The blackout was also extended to parts of Patan district, specifically targeting villages in Santalpur taluka, as confirmed by Collector Tushar Bhatt. He urged residents to remain calm and avoid falling for misinformation or rumours.
In addition, reports confirmed that Jamnagar also implemented blackout measures, and parts of Devbhumi Dwarkavoluntarily observed the same as a precautionary response.
High Alert in Border Regions
The coordinated blackout is aimed at bolstering visibility control and reducing any potential targets for aerial surveillance or attacks amid heightened tensions. Officials emphasized that these measures are temporary and intended to ensure civilian safety.Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and residents have been advised to remain indoors and follow official instructions.
