Hassan (Karnataka), May 17 — Congress MLA K M Shivalinge Gowda has voiced optimism about being inducted into the Karnataka Cabinet during the anticipated cabinet reshuffle. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the senior leader from Arasikere affirmed that he had joined the Congress from the JD(S) with the promise of a ministerial post.
Gowda, a four-time legislator, highlighted that the reshuffle is yet to take place, but expressed confidence that he will be considered for a cabinet role once approved.
"I was brought to Congress from the JD(S) promising a minister post, there is nothing to hide in it," Gowda said. "Siddaramaiah has told me that he will give me a minister post. He has said it before the media and in public meetings that he will make me a minister after 2.5 years of this government."
He further stressed that being the sole Congress MLA from Hassan district strengthens his case for a cabinet position, noting it would help bolster the party’s presence in the region.
"To strengthen the party and take it forward, a minister post should be given. This is the political calculation," he stated.
Gowda had left JD(S) to join the Congress ahead of the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections, amid assurances of a significant role within the party.
As the Congress government completes two years in office, internal pressure has mounted for a cabinet reshuffle. Several MLAs with ministerial ambitions, like Gowda, have publicly expressed their aspirations, intensifying discussions within the party.
The current Karnataka Cabinet has not been reshuffled since its formation in May 2023.
