New Delhi, April 4 — In a significant stride towards self-reliant aviation manufacturing, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research–National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) has signed a technology licensing agreement with Pioneer Clean AMPS Pvt Ltd for the production and commercialisation of the Hansa-3 (NG), a two-seater trainer aircraft.
The agreement, signed on Friday in the national capital, marks a major milestone in promoting indigenous aerospace capabilities. The pact encompasses manufacturing, marketing, commercialisation, and after-sales support for the Hansa-3 (NG), aimed at supporting flight training and allied aviation sectors.Driving 'Make in India' in Aviation
Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, present at the event, highlighted the aircraft's role in advancing the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) vision. He noted that the deployment of Hansa-3 (NG) will not only boost domestic aircraft manufacturing but also support the nation’s broader technological and strategic objectives.Strengthening Pilot Training Infrastructure
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan emphasized the critical need for more pilots in India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector. He underscored how the introduction of indigenous aircraft like the Hansa-3 (NG) would bolster pilot training infrastructure across the country.He also mentioned that efforts are underway to develop India's own regional aircraft, further reinforcing the push toward indigenous aviation development.
Aviation Sector Poised for Rapid Expansion
Currently, India boasts 159 operational airports, with plans to set up an additional 120 over the next decade, according to the minister. As one of the world’s fastest-growing civil aviation markets, the country is witnessing rapid fleet expansion by domestic airlines to meet soaring passenger demand.With this growth trajectory, there will be an increased demand for qualified pilots, training aircraft, and flight training organisations—making the launch of the Hansa-3 (NG) especially timely.
