Domestic and Export Sales Drive Record Performance Amid Market Challenges

New Delhi, May 15 – Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) announced on Thursday a robust 10.5 percent year-on-year increase in bus sales, reaching approximately 2,200 units in 2024, marking its highest-ever annual sales in this segment.

The growth was primarily driven by rising replacement demand and expanding transport infrastructure and solutions. The company's export performance also stood out, with overseas bus shipments climbing by 66 percent to around 1,000 units, indicating a surge in global demand for made-in-India buses.

"Despite numerous challenges, 2024 has been a year of resilience for us," said Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of DICV. He noted that geopolitical tensions and the domestic election environment created a challenging operating climate. Still, the company emerged stronger by maintaining its focus on customers, products, and workforce.

Looking ahead, Arya expressed confidence in DICV’s ability to navigate the challenges of the Indian commercial vehicle sector by delivering reliable products that support essential operations across the country. He emphasized the company's continued commitment to efficiency, future-readiness, and a customer-centric strategy.

Alexander Schoen, Chief Financial Officer of DICV, highlighted the company’s positive revenue mix in 2024, pointing to a 31 percent rise in domestic bus revenue and a significant 58.5 percent jump in export revenue, underscoring the strength of its growth momentum.

DICV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has expanded its product portfolio in recent months with the launch of BharatBenz heavy-duty rigid trucks and the BharatBenz TorqShift tipper range equipped with advanced AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) technology.
