Dankuni-Surat DFC: Railways Accelerate Implementation

Dankuni-Surat DFC: Railways Accelerate Implementation.webp

Indian Railways has initiated rapid action to quickly implement the newly announced Dankuni-Surat dedicated freight corridor (DFC). The implementation of this corridor was announced in the 2026-27 Union Budget. The proposed new DFC, approximately 2,100 kilometers long, will run from Dankuni to Surat, passing through West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. This corridor will improve freight movement between the eastern and western parts of the country, make logistics faster and more efficient, and ease congestion on existing Indian Railways routes. The Railway Board has directed that all pre-construction activities be identified and expedited, while simultaneously initiating the preparation of contract documents.
