Darbhanga, February 8 A six-year-old girl was found dead in Bihar's Darbhanga district, and her family has alleged that she was sexually assaulted and murdered.
The incident occurred in the Vishwavidyalay police station area on Saturday, according to police.
The girl was playing with two other children near a pond when she went missing. Her family later found her body lying in a pool of blood at a secluded location, according to local residents.
Her family has alleged that she was taken to the secluded location by a neighbor and sexually assaulted before being murdered. Police have stated that the neighbor has been arrested.
"A forensic team has inspected the scene. The exact cause of death can only be determined after the post-mortem report is received," SSP Jagunath Reddy said.
The body has been sent to the Patna Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination, he added.
The CCTV footage of the area is also being examined, he added.
Meanwhile, angry locals have blocked the main road, demanding severe punishment for the accused.
A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent further escalation, another officer said.
