Police Suspect Strangulation; Murder Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita
Palghar, Maharashtra – April 1:In a chilling discovery on Tuesday, the body of an unidentified woman was found stuffed inside a sack and dumped in the Wagh River in Maharashtra's Palghar district, officials confirmed.
According to the police, local villagers spotted a suspicious sack floating in the river at Ghatkarpada, located along the Nashik-Mokhada-Jawhar Road. Upon being alerted, a police team rushed to the scene and recovered the sack.
On opening it, officers found the decomposed body of a woman believed to be in her 20s. Initial findings suggest she may have been strangled before her body was packed in the sack and thrown into the river to conceal the crime.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have registered a case under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. A detailed investigation is underway to identify the victim and trace the culprits.
Police have urged anyone with information about a missing woman matching the description to come forward and assist with the ongoing probe.
