Delhi Airport Operations Smooth but Flight Schedules May See Delays Amid Heightened Security.webp

New Delhi, May 12 — Delhi airport authorities have confirmed that operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) are running smoothly, even as heightened security measures and shifting airspace conditions could delay flight schedules and processing times.

On Sunday, nearly 100 flights to and from Delhi were cancelled due to precautionary airspace restrictions imposed across the northern and western regions of India. The disruptions followed escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to the temporary shutdown of at least 32 airports in the affected areas.

The situation stabilized after India and Pakistan agreed to cease all military actions on Saturday across land, air, and sea.

In an update posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which operates IGIA, stated:
"Airport operations are currently smooth. However, due to changing airspace conditions and increased security measures, some flight schedules and security checkpoint processing times may be affected."

DIAL has urged passengers to plan ahead and arrive early at the airport, allowing for extra time at security checkpoints. Travelers have also been asked to cooperate with airline staff and security personnel to ensure efficient movement through the airport.

IGIA remains the busiest airport in the country, and authorities are working to minimize passenger inconvenience while maintaining robust safety protocols amid the ongoing regional developments.
