Minimum Temperature Slightly Above Normal; IMD Predicts Strong Winds​

New Delhi, April 5 – Delhi woke up to warm weather on Saturday, with the minimum temperature recorded at 19.5°C — 0.7 degrees above the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

At 8:30 a.m., the relative humidity stood at 47%, while the IMD forecast strong surface winds during the day.

Temperature to Peak at 42°C Amid Heatwave Alert​

The national capital is expected to witness soaring temperatures, with Saturday’s maximum temperature projected to hit 39°C. The IMD has issued a six-day heatwave warning, predicting that daytime temperatures could climb up to 42°C in the coming days.

The forecast indicates persistent heatwave conditions over Delhi, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 39°C and 42°C throughout the week.

Air Quality in ‘Moderate’ Zone​

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) measured at 164 at 9 a.m., according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

To interpret the AQI:
  • 0-50: Good
  • 51-100: Satisfactory
  • 101-200: Moderate
  • 201-300: Poor
  • 301-400: Very Poor
  • 401-500: Severe
With both rising temperatures and fluctuating air quality, residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
