New Delhi, May 11 – On the occasion of Mother's Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised the invaluable contributions of both mothers and doctors, calling them the two "pillars of life." Addressing an audience of 400 women at a special event, she emphasized their pivotal roles in society and their unwavering support for families and the nation.

Fighting Societal Battles for a Better Future

Gupta remarked that while soldiers fight battles at the country's borders, another crucial battle is fought within society itself. This internal battle, she said, is against unhealthy practices, bad habits, and negative thinking that can hinder progress. She urged everyone to confront these societal issues with the same determination as soldiers fighting on the frontlines.

She also spoke about the importance of seeing every citizen as a valuable asset to the nation. "If every one of our 140 crore people works with dedication, some for their families and some for the country, India will certainly move forward," Gupta stated.

Health and Obesity Awareness

Highlighting the growing issue of obesity, particularly among women, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of prioritizing health and proper diet. "Obesity must end. Women often focus on caring for everyone else, but during COVID-19, I realized that we must take care of ourselves first," she emphasized.

Gupta's message was clear: women must take charge of their well-being and ensure that they remain healthy not only for their families but for the future of the nation as well.

The Role of Fitness in National Health

To support this vision, Gupta acknowledged the government's efforts in promoting fitness, notably the installation of open gyms in parks across the city. "If there's a need, we will set up more such gyms. Our vision is a healthy India, and the foundation starts with healthy families," she affirmed.

In her closing remarks, Gupta reiterated the importance of mothers and doctors, stating, "After God, if there's anyone we place our trust in, it's our mothers and our doctors—one gives us life, and the other saves it."

Gupta's words resonated with the audience as she called for a collective effort to build a healthier, more prosperous future for the nation.
