New Delhi, March 3: A Delhi court on Monday ordered Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit to provide relevant documents to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Atishi and Sanjay Singh, in connection with his defamation suit filed against the two leaders.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Dalal directed Dikshit to hand over a copy of the pen drive containing the alleged defamatory statements made by the respondents. The case revolves around accusations made by Atishi, Delhi's former education minister and now chief minister, and Sanjay Singh, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP.
According to the lawsuit, Atishi and Singh had allegedly accused Dikshit of accepting crores of rupees from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The allegations were made during a press conference held on December 26 last year, where the two AAP leaders also claimed that the Congress Party was colluding with the BJP to harm AAP's electoral prospects.
Dikshit’s lawsuit argues that these statements were intended to deliberately harm his goodwill and public reputation. On January 16, the court had issued notices to both Atishi and Sanjay Singh based on Dikshit's complaint.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 12.
