New 5.5-Kilometre Flyover Aims to Decongest Key Route Connecting Nanaksar Gurudwara to UP Border
New Delhi, April 4 — The Delhi government has greenlit the construction of a 5.5-kilometre-long elevated road in the Pushta Sonia Vihar area, a strategic move aimed at reducing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity in the trans-Yamuna region.Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma confirmed the approval of the project, which is estimated to cost Rs 500 crore, following consultations with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
“The local MLA and Minister Kapil Mishra has been pushing for this project. Due to the presence of many trees in the area, we opted for a flyover instead of a conventional road. After discussions with the Chief Minister, the project has been approved. Work will begin following coordination with the Flood Department,” said Verma.
Strategic Stretch from Nanaksar Gurudwara to Shani Mandir
The elevated corridor will span from Nanaksar Gurudwara to Shani Mandir near the UP border, significantly easing the daily commute for thousands of residents and motorists who rely on this key route.Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra, who also serves as the Water Minister and the Tourism and Culture Minister, underlined the urgency and impact of the initiative.
“The BJP government is working at a fast pace, and this project is a testament to that. This road has been a major issue for trans-Yamuna residents, and today, we have resolved it. Lakhs of people use this route daily,” said Mishra.
On-Site Review by Ministers
To assess the project's feasibility and ongoing infrastructure enhancements, both PWD Minister Verma and Minister Mishra conducted an on-site inspection of the area, including the Nanaksar Gurudwara Chowk in Wazirabad. The flyover is expected to address long-standing traffic woes and serve as a vital link for residents commuting between North-East Delhi and the neighbouring regions of Uttar Pradesh.
