Midnight Inspection Conducted on Outer Ring Road; Rs 12.85 Crore Project Underway
New Delhi, April 1 — Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has pledged that the Delhi government will ensure all roads in the capital are free of potholes ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.Following a midnight inspection on Sunday of the ongoing road repair work between Madhuban Chowk and Mukarba Chowk on the Outer Ring Road, Gupta instructed officials to prioritise public convenience and strictly monitor project execution for quality and timely completion.
“Our government is making every possible effort to strengthen and improve Delhi’s roads,” said the Chief Minister during the inspection. “We are committed to delivering pothole-free roads before the monsoon.”
4 km Stretch Being Upgraded with Advanced Techniques
The 4-kilometre road upgrade is being carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD) Northern Zone, covering both sides of the Outer Ring Road along the elevated corridor. The work incorporates cold milling and hot recycling techniques, aimed at enhancing durability and ensuring smoother surfaces.The Rs 12.85 crore road strengthening project includes a two-layer reinforcement process:
- First layer: Dense Bitumen Macadam (DBM)
- Second layer: Dense Bitumen Concrete (DBC)
Improved Visibility and Safety Measures in Place
To further enhance road safety, especially during night hours, the project also features:- Thermoplastic paint
- Glow studs
- Median markers
With the monsoon approaching, the Delhi government aims to deliver improved road conditions, ensuring safer and smoother travel for all city residents.
