Existing Doctors and Paramedics to Stay Onboard Until Further Notice
On Thursday, New Delhi, May 15 — Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh assured that all doctors and staff currently employed at Mohalla Clinics will retain their jobs until further orders, amidst the rollout of the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission in the national capital.Speaking to reporters, Singh clarified that the Delhi government will soon begin the recruitment process to hire medical personnel for the new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, but until that is completed, the existing staff will continue in their roles under the current terms and conditions.
Transition to Ayushman Arogya Mandirs Underway
The move comes as the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) operationalises. Singh emphasized that adequate notice will be given to all existing doctors and paramedics before changing their empanelment status.The new health facilities will be recruited per the guidelines of the National Health Mission (NHM).“The extension and empanelment of existing doctors and paramedical staff shall continue under current terms until new manpower is appointed for the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to serve areas currently covered by Mohalla Clinics,” Singh said.
1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to be Established
The newly elected BJP government in Delhi, which returned to power in February after over 26 years, approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in its first cabinet meeting on February 20. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also holds the finance portfolio, announced in her Budget speech that 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs would be established across Delhi.According to official sources, Delhi currently has 553 operational Mohalla Clinics, with 70 of them earmarked for upgradation into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
This transition is seen as a significant policy shift in Delhi’s public healthcare model, aligning the state with the central government's flagship health mission.
