New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday, accusing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia of failing Delhi while states with "double-engine" BJP governments have prospered over the last decade.

Addressing a public meeting in Jangpura, Shah likened Kejriwal and Sisodia to “Bade Miyan and Chote Miyan”, alleging that they looted Delhi through false promises and corruption. He claimed that rather than focusing on development, AAP leaders have been engaged in continuous conflicts with the Centre.

"Delhi has been left behind because the AAP government keeps making excuses and fights with the Centre like a cry baby," Shah said, intensifying his attack.

Sisodia in BJP’s Crosshairs Amid Liquor Scam Allegations

Shah also targeted Manish Sisodia, who is contesting from Jangpura against BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah, stating that Sisodia is the only education minister in the country to have been jailed in a liquor scam case. He accused the AAP-led government of prioritizing liquor sales over education, claiming that liquor shops were opened near religious places while schools were neglected.

“Kejriwal Gave Delhi Garbage, Toxic Water, and Corruption”

Lashing out at Kejriwal’s governance, Shah said the AAP chief misled the people of Delhi and failed to deliver on his promises.

“He promised development but delivered garbage, toxic water, and rampant corruption,” Shah alleged.
Highlighting unfulfilled promises, Shah mocked Kejriwal for not taking a dip in the Yamuna, as he had earlier vowed. He quipped that BJP workers had to submerge Kejriwal’s cutout in the polluted river instead, which became so ‘sick’ that it needed medical attention at AIIMS.

BJP’s Vision for Delhi: Riverfront Development & Healthcare Promises

The BJP leader pledged to develop a modern riverfront on the Yamuna within three years and offer free healthcare to all Delhi residents under the Ayushman Scheme if the BJP is elected.

Shah reminded voters of Kejriwal’s pre-election promise of forgoing official perks but accused him of splurging on a lavish lifestyle after taking office.

“He promised not to take a house, car, or security. But after becoming CM, he not only took them but built a ‘Sheesh Mahal’ (glass palace) over 50,000 square yards,” Shah alleged.
He further claimed that the extravagant CM residence featured designer marble, remote-controlled curtains, motion sensor lights, a golden commode, carpets worth ₹50 crore, a ₹15 crore water purifier, and a ₹15 lakh reclining sofa.

Surgical Strikes & National Security: Shah Highlights BJP's Strong Stand

Switching focus to national security, Shah highlighted India’s surgical strikes in 2016 following the Uri and Pulwama attacks, emphasizing PM Narendra Modi’s strong leadership compared to previous governments.

“Pakistan forgot that Modi, not Manmohan Singh, is India’s Prime Minister. Within 10 days, we eliminated the terrorists through surgical strikes,” Shah asserted.
He also reiterated the BJP government’s commitment to ending terrorism and Naxalism by March 2026.

Revocation of Article 370 & Ram Temple Construction

Shah accused opposition leaders, including Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mehbooba Mufti, of fearmongering over Article 370’s revocation in Jammu and Kashmir.

"They said rivers of blood would flow if we removed Article 370, but forget rivers of blood, no one can even throw a pebble now," he said.
Highlighting BJP’s role in the Ram Temple construction, he recalled that “Ram Lala lived in a tent for 550 years, but Modi ensured the temple’s completion within five years.”

Conclusion

With elections approaching, Shah’s aggressive rhetoric signals BJP’s determined push to wrest control of Delhi from AAP. While AAP has yet to respond, the battle for Delhi’s governance continues to intensify.
