New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday, blaming its governance for Delhi’s stagnation while praising BJP-led states for their progress over the past decade.

Speaking at a public rally in Jangpura, Shah criticized AAP leaders, calling Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia “bade miyan and chote miyan” and accusing them of corruption. He alleged that the AAP government has been making excuses and engaging in constant conflicts with the Centre instead of working for Delhi’s development.

AAP's Governance Under Fire

Targeting Sisodia, who is contesting from the Jangpura Assembly seat, Shah remarked, “He is the only education minister in the country who went to jail over a liquor scam. Sisodia ruined the future of Delhi’s children by committing fraud in the name of classrooms. Once the BJP government comes to power, he will be held accountable for every penny.”

Shah asserted that the enthusiasm of the people in Jangpura indicates that Delhi will soon be free from AAP, which BJP leaders often refer to as "aapda" (disaster). He further accused Kejriwal’s administration of misleading the people and providing nothing but “garbage, toxic water, and corruption.”

According to Shah, AAP is a sinking ship, with half its MLAs already leaving the party. He insisted that only the BJP can transform Delhi into one of the world’s best capital cities.

Infrastructure Woes and Unfulfilled Promises

Addressing a rally in Bijwasan in support of BJP candidate Kailash Gahlot, Shah blamed AAP for Delhi’s poor infrastructure, citing issues like faulty drainage, flooding, and a lack of proper civic amenities.

“Water pipes run alongside power lines, and half of Delhi floods during rainfall. People are still waiting for a world-class drainage system, schools, a sports university, and the London-like streets that Kejriwal promised them,” Shah said.

He also criticized Kejriwal for falsely blaming Haryana for Yamuna river pollution, calling it an insult to Haryanvis living in Delhi and surrounding areas.

BJP’s Vision for Delhi

Promising a clean and developed city under BJP’s governance, Shah vowed to clean the Yamuna and develop a riverfront similar to Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati within three years. He also announced plans to implement free healthcare for Delhi residents under the Ayushman Scheme.

Taking aim at Kejriwal’s personal lifestyle, Shah reminded voters of his past promises to forgo official perks. “After becoming CM, he took a car, security, and a bungalow. Not just one bungalow—he demolished four and built a ‘sheesh mahal’ (glass palace) on 50,000 square yards with designer marble, remote-controlled curtains, motion-sensor doors, and even a golden commode,” he alleged.

He further declared that if BJP wins in Delhi, this bungalow would be opened for public viewing, urging voters to press the EVM button "so hard that it shatters the glass of Kejriwal’s ‘sheesh mahal’."

National Security and Article 370

Shah also highlighted the Modi government’s achievements in national security. He recalled the surgical strikes against Pakistan-based terrorists in 2016 and declared that terrorism in India has drastically reduced under BJP rule. He also vowed to eliminate Naxalism completely by March 2026.

Referring to the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah dismissed opposition claims of ensuing violence. “They warned of rivers of blood. Forget rivers of blood, no one can even dare throw a pebble now,” he said.

Ram Temple and Welfare Initiatives

Shah also spoke about the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, claiming that it was made possible only due to PM Modi’s leadership. “Ram Lalla lived in a tent for 550 years. Modi won the case and built the temple within five years,” he stated.

He further highlighted the BJP government’s focus on welfare, citing the construction of 13 crore toilets across the country as an achievement.

With Delhi set for elections, Shah’s aggressive campaign signals BJP’s determination to wrest control of the capital from AAP. Whether voters resonate with these claims will be evident in the upcoming polls.
