Delhi Metro to begin early services at 4 am on election, counting day for staff convenience

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – In a bid to facilitate the movement of election duty staff, the Delhi Metro will commence operations from 4 AM on all lines on February 5, the day of the Delhi Assembly elections, and February 8, the vote counting day, officials announced on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), trains will operate at a 30-minute frequency between 4 AM and 6 AM. After 6 AM, normal metro services will resume as per the regular schedule.

Additionally, the last metro services on all lines will be extended on the intervening night of February 5 and 6 to accommodate polling officials returning late after election duties. The specific extensions are as follows:

  • Red Line: Extended from 11 PM to 12 AM.
  • Yellow Line: From Millennium City Centre Gurugram to Samaypur Badli, extended from 11 PM to 11:30 PM; from Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre Gurugram, extended from 11 PM to 11:45 PM.
  • Blue Line: Extended until 11:50 PM.
  • Violet Line: Services extended until 12 AM.
  • Other Lines: The extension goes up to 1 AM.
This initiative aims to ensure seamless transportation for officials involved in the electoral process, providing them with a reliable commuting option during critical hours.
