New Delhi, February 27 – The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has dismantled an illegal factory in the Burari area, which was engaged in manufacturing counterfeit hair removal creams and packaging them in branded containers, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The police have arrested the factory owner, Pawan Kumar (33), and confiscated a large stockpile of fake cosmetic products, raw materials, and machinery from the premises, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Apoorva Gupta.
"Based on a tip-off, a police team raided the facility located in Kamal Vihar. During the search, authorities uncovered 14,184 tubes of counterfeit hair removal cream, along with packaging materials of multiple well-known brands. Additionally, crucial manufacturing equipment, including a tube-filling machine, pressing machine, and printing tools, were seized," the DCP stated.
During interrogation, Pawan Kumar revealed that his legitimate cosmetics business had suffered massive losses following the COVID-19 pandemic. To recover financially, he resorted to manufacturing counterfeit beauty products. He admitted to supplying the fake hair removal creams to Sadar Bazar, a prominent wholesale market in Delhi.
Authorities have launched a deeper investigation to trace the supply chain and identify potential collaborators in the illicit trade.
