New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) – With just a day left for the Delhi Assembly elections, law enforcement agencies have ramped up their vigilance, leading to the registration of 1,076 cases of alleged Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations and the detention or arrest of 34,250 individuals, an official said on Tuesday.
The cases were recorded between January 7, when the MCC came into effect, and February 3, the final day of election campaigning. As Delhi heads to the polls on February 5, police have intensified monitoring at border checkpoints and cracked down on illegal activities, including the smuggling of arms, liquor, and drugs.
As election day approaches, authorities remain on high alert to prevent any electoral malpractice and ensure a smooth polling process.

Massive Seizures Ahead of Elections
Delhi Police, in its enforcement drive, has confiscated:- 469 illegal firearms and 513 cartridges, with 491 arrests made under the Arms Act.
- 1,10,093 litres of liquor, leading to 1,381 arrests.
- 196.602 kg of drugs, valued at over ₹77.9 crore, along with 1,200 banned injections, resulting in 177 arrests.
- ₹11.36 crore in cash and 37.39 kg of silver.
- ₹88 crore worth of drugs,
- ₹81 crore in precious metals, and
- Nearly ₹40 crore in cash.
Public Participation in MCC Violations Reporting
The cVigil platform, which enables citizens to report MCC violations, has received over 7,500 complaints. Of these:- 7,467 complaints have been resolved,
- Only 32 cases remain under process.
Delhi Assembly Polls Schedule
Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly is set for February 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8.As election day approaches, authorities remain on high alert to prevent any electoral malpractice and ensure a smooth polling process.
