Truck from Odisha to Delhi Found Carrying Hidden Consignment in Multi-State Operation

New Delhi, May 11 — In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Delhi Police have arrested two individuals and recovered over 365 kilograms of marijuana valued at approximately Rs 1 crore. The seizure was made from a concealed compartment in a truck that had travelled from Odisha to the national capital, officials said on Sunday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak (36) and Sunil Malik alias Kala (25), both hailing from Sonipat in Haryana. The arrests were made in the Rohini area on Friday.

According to officials, the operation was the result of an extensive two-month surveillance effort, which involved collecting intelligence inputs and analyzing toll plaza CCTV footage to track the movement of the vehicle.

Investigations revealed that the accused were operating under the direction of Sanjeev Rana, who had registered the truck in Malik's name. After initially delivering a consignment of chips in Kolkata, the duo proceeded to Brahmapur in Odisha to collect the narcotics.

To evade detection, the accused later loaded paper rolls from Jamshedpur to mask the illicit cargo. Their route spanned multiple states, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, before reaching Delhi.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted they were in the capital to deliver the marijuana to an associate. Police have seized the truck involved in the operation and stated that further investigations are ongoing to uncover the larger drug distribution network and its supply chain.

Authorities continue to probe the case to identify other members of the syndicate and trace the narcotics delivery route.
