New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – With the Delhi Assembly elections set to take place on February 5, the Delhi Police has issued a strict warning against recording social media reels or taking videos inside polling stations. Violators will face legal consequences, a senior official confirmed.
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Police headquarters on Monday, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order Zone-II) Madhup Tewari emphasized that mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside polling booths as per the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) guidelines.
"There are strict guidelines of the Election Commission that no mobile phone is allowed inside the polling station. The same message will also be displayed at every polling station," Tewari stated.
The directive aims to ensure a smooth and disruption-free voting process while safeguarding the integrity of the electoral system. Police have urged voters to adhere to these regulations and avoid any actions that might compromise security at polling booths.
Additionally, authorities will be actively monitoring social media platforms to detect and take action against individuals who post pictures or videos from inside polling stations.
With voting scheduled for February 5, the Delhi Police remains vigilant in enforcing election protocols and maintaining order during the polling process.
