New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced the formation of a dedicated team of volunteers aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability during the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The volunteers will be tasked with a range of responsibilities on polling day, including verifying polling booth setups, cross-checking the details of presiding officers, and monitoring Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Control Unit IDs.
In an official statement, AAP emphasized that its trained volunteers would be present at polling booths to oversee the voting process, identify any potential irregularities, and guard against tampering. "Our volunteers will ensure that the election process remains transparent and fair by verifying booth details, confirming the presence of presiding officers, and tracking the total votes cast," the statement read.
A key responsibility of the volunteers will also be to monitor the battery levels of EVMs at the conclusion of the polling, in order to detect any discrepancies. They will further keep a record of the presence of party polling agents, maintaining strict accountability throughout the day.
In an effort to keep the public informed, AAP has announced that it will launch a web portal to upload real-time data collected by the volunteers. The portal will be activated on Wednesday night, after polling concludes, providing a comprehensive overview of the election process.
The final vote count for the Delhi Assembly elections is scheduled for Saturday.
