Expresses Unanimous Support Amid Rising Tensions with Pakistan

New Delhi, May 10 — In a strong show of national solidarity, the Academic Council of Delhi University unanimously passed a resolution on Saturday expressing its full support for the Government of India and the Indian Armed Forces amid the escalating military conflict with Pakistan.

The resolution was adopted during the Council’s 1022nd meeting and voiced unequivocal support for Operation Sindoor, the precision military strikes launched on May 7 to eliminate terror camps across the border in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

“The University fraternity firmly stands with the nation, its citizens, the Government of India and the valiant Armed Forces,” the resolution read, hailing Operation Sindoor for its “power, planning, precision and courage.”
The strikes were conducted in retaliation to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, including 25 tourists. The attack was attributed to cross-border terrorist elements, sparking widespread outrage and a military response.

Vice-Chancellor Praises Armed Forces and PM Modi

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh took to X (formerly Twitter) to extend his support to the armed forces and commend the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Operation Sindoor is a testament to Prime Minister Modi's resolute leadership firmly pivoted on Rashtra Pratham, unreservedly backing the Indian Armed Forces while they exhibit their best tradition of service,” Singh posted.
In another post, he added, “Salute to the Indian Army for its valour and courage. We are proud of you. Under the strong and decisive leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India will not tolerate any compromise with its sovereignty and security.”

Escalating Tensions Along the LoC

Since the operation, the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) has remained volatile. Pakistani forces have reportedly engaged in heavy shelling for three consecutive days, prompting the evacuation of residents from vulnerable areas in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts. Authorities remain on high alert.

Academic Community Stands United

The Academic Council assured the Central Government of all possible cooperation during this critical period. The resolution, passed in both Hindi and English, reaffirms the university community’s alignment with national interests and its unwavering unity with the country’s armed forces.

The development underscores a broader wave of institutional and public support for India’s counter-terrorism measures amid ongoing security challenges.
