A 19-year-old Delhi University student, who was working as a newspaper vendor to fund his education, was tragically killed in a road accident in Delhi’s Rohini area on Saturday morning, police confirmed on Monday.
The victim, identified as Rishal Singh, a resident of Budh Vihar in Delhi, was pursuing graduation alongside distributing newspapers to financially support his studies. The fatal accident occurred around 6:30 am near the RTO office in Rohini.
"Initial investigation suggests that an unidentified vehicle hit the victim, resulting in fatal injuries," said a senior police official.
An FIR has been registered, and police teams are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the vehicle and driver responsible for the hit-and-run.
Describing Rishal as exceptionally hard-working and ambitious, Poonam said, "He wanted to become a stenographer. His dreams have been crushed, and the accused is still free. What will my elderly parents do now?"
Police officials confirmed the investigation is actively ongoing, and assured that every effort is being made to locate and arrest the responsible party.

Fatal Morning Accident Claims Promising Young Life
Delhi Police received a PCR call alerting them to a serious road accident. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find a damaged bicycle and newspapers scattered across the road. However, the injured student had already been rushed to BSA Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead."Initial investigation suggests that an unidentified vehicle hit the victim, resulting in fatal injuries," said a senior police official.

Family Devastated, Demands Swift Justice
Rishal Singh’s untimely demise has left his family devastated. His elder sister, Poonam (25), expressed grief and frustration, highlighting that Rishal’s 20th birthday was just three months away, on June 11.Describing Rishal as exceptionally hard-working and ambitious, Poonam said, "He wanted to become a stenographer. Working Hard Since School Days to Support Family
Rishal had been working odd jobs, including newspaper distribution, since he was in Class 11. He was earning approximately Rs 12,000 per month, supporting not only his own education but also helping his family financially. His father, aged 50, works in a factory in Bawana, while his mother, aged 45, earns through stitching.
