Delhi Wakes to Pleasant Morning with Rain and Thunderstorm Forecast

New Delhi, May 11 — The national capital witnessed a relatively pleasant morning on Sunday, recording a minimum temperature of 23.6 degrees Celsius, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather office has forecast a thunderstorm accompanied by rain during the day.

Delhi recorded 13 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, measured between 8:30 am on Saturday and 8:30 am on Sunday. The IMD further stated that the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 37 degrees Celsius.

Humidity levels remained high in the early hours, with relative humidity recorded at 74 percent at 8:30 am, indicating sticky and moist atmospheric conditions.

Meanwhile, air quality in the city remained in the 'moderate' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 154, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

For context, AQI levels are categorized as:
  • 0–50: Good
  • 51–100: Satisfactory
  • 101–200: Moderate
  • 201–300: Poor
  • 301–400: Very Poor
  • 401–500: Severe
The IMD’s forecast of rainfall is expected to bring some relief from rising temperatures and improve air quality temporarily. Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy and stay alert for possible localised waterlogging or traffic disruptions due to sudden showers.
