New Delhi, May 11 — The national capital experienced relatively pleasant weather on Sunday as the maximum temperature dipped slightly below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Temperature and Rainfall Details​

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8°C, which is 1.7 degrees below the normal for this time of year. The minimum temperature settled at 23.6°C, 1.8 degrees below the seasonal average.

The city also received 13 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, measured between 8:30 am on Saturday and 8:30 am on Sunday. The showers contributed to a brief respite from the usual early summer heat.

Humidity and Forecast​

Humidity levels fluctuated throughout the day, ranging from 74% to 34%, as per IMD readings.

Looking ahead, the IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies for Monday, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 39°C and the minimum around 26°C.

Air Quality Remains in 'Moderate' Category​

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi stood at 158 at 4 pm on Sunday, placing it in the ‘moderate’ category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

AQI Classification:​

  • 0–50: Good
  • 51–100: Satisfactory
  • 101–200: Moderate
  • 201–300: Poor
  • 301–400: Very Poor
  • 401–500: Severe
With relatively lower temperatures and recent rainfall, the air quality saw a slight improvement, though it remains an area of concern as the summer intensifies.
