New Delhi, May 13 – Delhi witnessed a warm start to Tuesday, as the minimum temperature settled at 27.7 degrees Celsius, which is 2.3 degrees above the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Humidity levels stood at 42 per cent at 8:30 am, contributing to the early discomfort. The IMD has forecast strong surface winds during the daytime, which may provide some relief from the heat.
The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 39 degrees Celsius, indicating a hot day ahead for the capital region.
In terms of air quality, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 134 at 9 am, placing it in the moderate category, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
For reference, the CPCB classifies AQI levels as follows:
- 0–50: Good
- 51–100: Satisfactory
- 101–200: Moderate
- 201–300: Poor
- 301–400: Very Poor
- 401–500: Severe
