Los Angeles, May 20 – Hollywood icon Denzel Washington was awarded the prestigious Palme d’Or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, marking a major milestone in his illustrious career. The surprise honour was presented to him on Monday, just ahead of the premiere of his latest film, Highest 2 Lowest.

A Heartfelt Acceptance from Washington

Reflecting on the privilege of his profession, he added, “We’re a very privileged group in this room that we get to make movies and wear tuxedos and nice clothes and dress up and get paid for it as well. We’re just blessed beyond measure. I’m blessed beyond measure. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all.”
