
Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, a bridge spanning the Brahmaputra River connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati, which cost 3,000 crore rupees to build.
An Akashvani correspondent reports that after inaugurating the bridge, the Prime Minister proceeded to Lachit Ghat, a nearby area, and virtually inaugurated the temporary campus of IIM Guwahati and the National Data Centre for the North Eastern Region at Amingaon in the Kamrup district.
In addition, the Prime Minister also launched 225 electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme for four cities in India: 100 buses for Guwahati, 50 each for Nagpur and Bhavnagar, and 25 buses for Chandigarh.
Around 2 pm, the Prime Minister will address a gathering of BJP workers in Guwahati. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Emergency Landing Facility on the Moran Bypass, which was developed along a national highway in the Dibrugarh district, and witnessed an aerial display of fighter jets and helicopters.
