Devotees Flock to Shiva Temples Across Rajasthan to Celebrate Mahashivratri

Jaipur, Feb 26: The chants of ‘Om Namah Shivay’ and ‘Har Har Mahadev’ echoed through temples across Rajasthan as devotees celebrated Mahashivratri with fervor on Wednesday. Worshippers thronged temples in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Kota, and Sikar, offering prayers and performing rituals in devotion to Lord Shiva.

The main temples were illuminated with dazzling lights, while Lord Shiva’s idols were adorned with elaborate decorations, enhancing the festive spirit. Long queues of devotees, carrying offerings, were seen waiting to seek the deity’s blessings.

Governor Haribhau Bagde, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot extended their greetings to the people on the occasion. In a statement, Governor Bagde highlighted Mahashivratri as a unique festival in Indian culture and prayed for the well-being and prosperity of all.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma conveyed his wishes through social media, saying, "Hearty greetings to all the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. With the blessings of Lord Bholenath, may happiness and prosperity enter everyone’s lives, and may the whole world thrive. Har Har Mahadev."

Sharma also performed rituals along with his family at the Rajrajeshwar temple, situated within the Chief Minister’s residence. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also extended his best wishes, stating, "Hearty congratulations and best wishes to everyone on the holy festival of Mahashivratri. Har Har Mahadev."

Mahashivratri, celebrated with immense devotion, marks a significant occasion for Shiva devotees, who observe fasting, night vigils, and temple visits as part of their spiritual observances.
