Devotees Flock to Temples Across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on Mahashivratri

Chandigarh, Feb 26 – Temples across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh witnessed a massive turnout of devotees on Wednesday as people gathered to offer prayers on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

From the early morning hours, worshippers queued up outside Shiva temples, bringing offerings of milk and fruits to seek blessings. The spiritual fervor was evident as devotees participated in rituals, chanting hymns and prayers dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Leaders Extend Festive Greetings​

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann conveyed their heartfelt wishes to the people on the auspicious occasion.

Saini offered prayers at the Shiv temple at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi and took to social media to express his wishes. "On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, I prayed to Lord Shiva for the prosperity and well-being of the state's people," he wrote.

In a post on X, Mann greeted people in Punjabi, saying, "Warm wishes to all of you on Mahashivratri. May Lord Shiva bless you with happiness, good health, and prosperity."

Governors Share Messages of Devotion​

Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria and Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya also extended their greetings to the devotees.

Kataria emphasized the spiritual essence of the festival, stating, "Mahashivratri is an occasion for prayer, meditation, and seeking renewed energy to do good. May Lord Shiva's divine blessings bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to everyone."

Dattatreya echoed similar sentiments, describing Mahashivratri as a "sacred occasion that inspires devotion, self-discipline, and the pursuit of truth." He urged people to celebrate with faith and uphold values of compassion and unity.

As the celebrations continue across the region, devotees remain immersed in the spirit of Mahashivratri, seeking Lord Shiva’s divine blessings for peace and prosperity.
