Dhananjay Munde's name figures on invitation card for CM event in Beed

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Feb 3 (PTI) – The political heat surrounding Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde has intensified as his name appears on the invitation card for an event to be attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Beed district. This development comes in the wake of the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, with allegations and purported links to an accused in a murder-linked extortion case casting a shadow over the minister.

BJP MLA Suresh Dhas, who has been vocal about Munde’s alleged connections to the accused, stated that Fadnavis is scheduled to perform the ground-breaking ceremony for an irrigation project in Ashti town, Beed, on Wednesday. He further mentioned that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has also been invited to the event.

"The names of two ministers from Beed district, Dhananjay Munde and Pankaja Munde, feature on the invitation card," Dhas told reporters on Monday. When questioned about the absence of the Munde cousins' photos on event banners, he speculated that some party workers might have removed them.

Dhas reiterated the claim made by the slain sarpanch’s brother, suggesting that Krishna Andhale, the fugitive accused in the case, may have destroyed crucial evidence. "Dhananjay Deshmukh is right. Some individuals are working to suppress key details of the murder case. Andhale will be arrested soon," Dhas asserted.

Discussing the irrigation project, Dhas highlighted that if approval is granted to raise the height of the Ashti lift irrigation No. 3 project, an additional 4 TMC of water would benefit Ashti and surrounding areas.

In a separate demand, Dhas called for an Income Tax probe into property holdings in Parli, the constituency represented by Dhananjay Munde. He claimed that several individuals possess lavish bungalows larger than Maharashtra’s Raj Bhavan and urged authorities to crack down on financial irregularities.

"The major players are now cornered, and the Income Tax department should go after the smaller elements as well," he said, adding that he would soon release a list of 500 businessmen who have fled Parli due to an "atmosphere of intimidation."

As the controversy unfolds, all eyes are now on the upcoming event and the political ramifications surrounding the minister’s alleged links to the murder case.
