Disruptions in Lok Sabha: Opposition Seeks Speaker Removal.webp

New Delhi, February 10 On Tuesday, the opposition submitted a notice to move a resolution to remove Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, from office for denying Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders the opportunity to speak in the House on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address, as well as for the suspension of eight MPs.

Congress MP and chief whip K Suresh submitted the notice to the Lok Sabha secretariat on behalf of several opposition parties, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and the DMK.

However, the TMC MPs did not sign the notice and were not a party to it.

Approximately 120 MPs from parties such as the Congress, DMK, and Samajwadi Party had already signed a notice to move the resolution, sources said.

The Lok Sabha has not been functioning properly since February 2, when Gandhi was not allowed to speak.
