Doctor's burnt body found in his room in govt hospital in Rajasthan's Jalore

Jaipur, Feb 3 (PTI) – In a tragic incident, a doctor was found charred inside his room at a government Ayurveda hospital in Rajasthan’s Jalore district on Monday morning. Authorities suspect that the fire may have been caused due to smoking, police said.

The deceased, identified as 45-year-old Muralilal Meena, worked at the Ayurveda Hospital in Ummedabad village and resided within the hospital premises.

According to Circle Officer Gautam Jain, police were alerted when smoke was seen billowing from Meena’s room. A team rushed to the scene and recovered the severely burned body, which was sent for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire likely started due to cigarette smoking inside the room.

At the time of the incident, Meena was alone in his quarters, as his family had traveled to Jaipur to attend a wedding. Police also noted that the doctor suffered from mobility issues caused by bodily pain and knee problems.

As of now, no formal case has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
