Dog nibbles on man's body at district hospital in MP's Narmadapuram; probe ordered.webp

Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh — May 11: A disturbing case of negligence has come to light at a government hospital in Narmadapuram, where a stray dog was found nibbling on the body of an accident victim. The incident has prompted authorities to launch an investigation and initiate disciplinary action.

The incident took place on Friday night at the district hospital, where the body of 21-year-old Nikhil Chourasia was kept in the mortuary for a post-mortem following his death in a road accident near Palanpur.

According to the hospital’s civil surgeon, Dr. Sudhir Vijayvargiya, a show-cause notice will be issued to the security guard on duty. He confirmed that a probe has been ordered and assured that steps will be taken to enhance security measures at the facility.

The matter came to light when the deceased's cousin, Ankit Gohile, stepped out briefly to drink water. Upon returning, he witnessed a stray dog fleeing the scene with what appeared to be a piece of flesh from Chourasia’s body. Gohile has filed a formal complaint, alleging serious negligence on the part of the hospital management.

Authorities have taken cognizance of the complaint, and the hospital administration has promised immediate corrective action to prevent such incidents from recurring.

This tragic lapse has sparked outrage over the condition and management of government-run health facilities, especially regarding the dignity and safety of deceased patients.

A detailed report from the hospital administration is awaited as investigations continue.
