Chennai, Feb 28: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin has strongly urged the Central government not to penalise southern states by determining parliamentary constituencies solely on the basis of population. He warned that Tamil Nadu would firmly resist any such "injustice," emphasizing that his state and the DMK would never accept this proposed delimitation move.

In a passionate video message ahead of his 72nd birthday, Stalin underscored the injustice of delimiting parliamentary seats purely by population, pointing out that southern states have responsibly controlled population growth. "Our demand is clear—do not determine parliamentary constituencies based solely on population. Do not penalise the southern states that took responsible measures to control population growth," he stated firmly.

Calling upon DMK cadres to stand united and fight for the state's rights, Stalin said, "We must pledge that we will never compromise Tamil Nadu's welfare and future for anyone or anything. Tamil Nadu will resist and win."

Highlighting two critical challenges facing Tamil Nadu—the protection of Tamil language, which he described as the state's lifeline, and the battle against unfair delimitation—he urged party workers to spread awareness among citizens. Stalin stressed that delimitation directly impacts Tamil Nadu's self-respect, social justice, and welfare schemes.

"Take this message to the people," he told DMK workers. "Each one of you must rise to defend our state. We are pioneers in this ideological battle, showing the path for the entire country."

Chief Minister Stalin also pointed out that states including Karnataka, Punjab, and Telangana were voicing solidarity against the Centre's approach. He criticised the central government, claiming that despite assurances of not imposing unilateral decisions, its actions conveyed otherwise.

Addressing the contentious three-language policy, Stalin mentioned it had already resulted in withholding rightful funds from Tamil Nadu. Further, he accused the Centre of being unwilling to guarantee that other states' parliamentary representation would not be disproportionately increased, despite claims to the contrary.

Reiterating his commitment, Stalin concluded his message by calling for unity among party members and citizens alike, to firmly resist policies detrimental to Tamil Nadu's welfare.
