New Delhi, May 17 — The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to support early-stage climate-tech startups in India. The agreement aims to accelerate clean energy innovation through funding, mentorship, and strategic investment opportunities.
Under the partnership, GEAPP will launch the Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge (ENTICE) — a competitive platform offering up to USD 500,000 in rewards for breakthrough, high-impact clean energy and climate technology solutions.
DPIIT stated that the collaboration will provide promising startups access to crucial early-stage capital and guidance. Investment support for these ventures will be facilitated through GEAPP’s network, which includes partners like Spectrum Impact and Avana Capital.
Sanjiv, Joint Secretary at DPIIT, emphasized the significance of this initiative, noting that the collaboration opens up substantial growth opportunities for clean energy startups working toward India’s long-term net-zero emissions goals.
The MoU was formally signed by Sumeet Jarangal, Director at DPIIT, and Saurabh Kumar, Vice President of India at GEAPP.
This partnership underscores the government's commitment to fostering innovation in the climate-tech space and supporting India's transition to a sustainable energy future.
