In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have achieved a major success in combating cross-border drug smuggling. Today, they thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs across the International Border in the Jammu division, seizing over 4 kilograms of heroin worth over ₹ 20 crore. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the contraband was recovered during a joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Police in a forward village of the R.S. Pura sector of the Jammu district. Acting on specific intelligence regarding a drone drop from across the border, security personnel launched a search operation in the area, during which two packets containing heroin were recovered and subsequently seized. A case has been registered in the matter, and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the cross-border smuggling network. This recovery comes a day after the police arrested two individuals in the Kathua district in connection with another drone-dropping case near the Nagri area, resulting in the seizure of 150 grams of heroin. The accused were reportedly in contact with a Pakistani smuggler through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls. Authorities have stated that intensified surveillance along the border is continuing to thwart such attempts and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating through drone routes.
