Drone Operation Disrupts Border Drug Smuggling.webp

In a significant success against cross-border drug smuggling, security forces today foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs using a drone along the International Border in the Jammu division, seizing over 4 kilograms of heroin worth over ₹20 crore, officials said.

The contraband was recovered during a joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and police in a forward village of the RS Pura sector. Acting on specific intelligence regarding a drone drop from across the border, security personnel launched a search operation in the area.

During the search, two packets containing heroin were recovered and subsequently seized. Officials confirmed that a case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the cross-border smuggling network.

The recovery comes a day after police arrested two individuals in the Kathua district in connection with another drone-dropping case near Nagri, leading to the seizure of 150 grams of heroin. The accused were reportedly in contact with a Pakistani-based smuggler through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls.

Authorities said intensified surveillance along the border is continuing to thwart such attempts and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating through drone routes.
