
Weather update for Jammu and Kashmir indicates dry conditions till February twenty four with brief isolated snow and advisory for travellers in higher reaches areas safely advised
February 15, Srinagar: Overall, no major rain or snowfall activity is forecast across Jammu and Kashmir till February 24. Weather conditions are expected to remain largely dry over most parts of the Union Territory during this period.
From February 15 to 17, weather will generally remain dry till the evening of February 16, with a possibility of light snowfall at isolated higher reaches during the night of February 16 or early morning of February 17. Maximum temperatures are expected to rise by around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Between February 18 and 21, dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across the region. Similarly, the period from February 22 to 24 is also expected to remain generally dry with no significant weather disturbances.
However, from February 25 to 26, the weather may turn generally cloudy with chances of light rain or snowfall at isolated places, followed by a return to dry conditions on February 27 and 28.
As part of the advisory, travellers and transporters have been advised to confirm road and highway status from concerned traffic authorities and strictly follow administrative advisories. People residing in snow-bound higher reaches have also been cautioned against venturing into steep and avalanche-prone areas.
