Accuses Ruling DMK of Vendetta Following ED Probe in TASMAC Scam
Chennai, May 17 — AIADMK leader and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami has lashed out at the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu, accusing it of political vendetta after the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted raids at properties linked to senior AIADMK leader Sevur S Ramachandran and former MLA Neethipathi.Speaking on Saturday, Palaniswami condemned the raids and claimed they were a reaction to recent searches carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged Rs 1,000 crore scam involving the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC).
"The ED’s investigation into the TASMAC scam has clearly rattled Chief Minister M K Stalin. These DVAC raids are nothing but an act of revenge," Palaniswami alleged.
He questioned Stalin's continued silence on the ED searches and demanded a response from the Chief Minister. “When will Stalin break his silence on the searches in TASMAC?” he asked.
Vows Legal Fight Against 'False Cases'
Dismissing the DVAC raids as baseless, Palaniswami termed them “fabricated and false cases” aimed at maligning the AIADMK leadership. He asserted that the party would tackle the matter legally and emerge successful. As of 4:30 PM on Saturday, the DVAC had not issued an official statement regarding the searches at locations connected to the AIADMK leaders.
The political temperature in Tamil Nadu has escalated in the wake of these developments. The opposition has framed the raids as politically motivated, and the ruling regime has yet to respond officially.
