New Delhi, Feb 26 – EDF India has announced a strategic joint venture with Actis, a global investor in sustainable infrastructure, to strengthen India's smart metering infrastructure. This collaboration aims to establish a dedicated platform company for Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) concessions, underscoring the duo’s commitment to investing in India's power sector.

Under this partnership, EDF India and Actis will leverage their global expertise in energy solutions and infrastructure investments. The initiative aligns with the Indian government's National Smart Metering Project, part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), which aims to install 250 million smart meters by 2025.

The deployment of these smart meters is expected to enhance operational efficiencies, minimize aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses, and improve the financial sustainability of India’s power distribution companies (DISCOMs).

Federico D’Amico, CEO of EDF India, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to join hands with Actis to accelerate the deployment of smart metering infrastructure in India.”

Asanka Rodrigo, Partner at Actis, emphasized the importance of smart metering in optimizing energy consumption and enhancing billing accuracy. “Smart metering is a critical component in ensuring efficient energy consumption, reducing losses, and improving billing accuracy for consumers,” he noted.

By integrating advanced technology, data analytics, and global best practices, the joint venture is poised to significantly transform India’s power distribution landscape. The initiative is expected to benefit both utilities and consumers, reinforcing India’s commitment to a resilient and efficient energy network.
