Effective utilisation of CSR funds in healthcare is priority: Minister Gundu Rao

Bengaluru, Feb 3 (PTI): Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly in rural areas.

Speaking at the launch of the ‘Strengthening Healthcare Services through PHC Infrastructure Upgradation’project at Arogya Soudha in Bengaluru, Gundu Rao emphasized the importance of health and education as fundamental pillars of public welfare. He highlighted the government’s collaboration with GE Healthcare and CSR Box/Bharat Cares to enhance Primary Health Centres (PHCs), ensuring improved healthcare access in underserved regions.

As part of this initiative, 13 PHCs in Raichur are being upgraded at a cost of ₹4 crore. Among them, 10 PHCs have already been completed and made operational, providing better medical facilities to rural communities.

Gundu Rao further underscored the department’s success in implementing various CSR-driven healthcare projects and assured the continuation of such initiatives in the future.

Corporate and Healthcare Leaders Applaud the Initiative

Addressing the gathering, Manoviraj Singh, Vice-President of CSR Box/Bharat Cares, reiterated the organization’s dedication to providing equitable and high-quality healthcare services to rural and underprivileged communities.

"This partnership with the government will help us upgrade PHCs, enhance infrastructure, and expand community outreach programs," Singh stated.

Chaitanya Saravate, Chairman & CEO of GE Healthcare, lauded the Karnataka government’s efforts in improving healthcare infrastructure.

"I thank the Health Minister and the government for enabling organizations like ours to contribute to healthcare development. We will continue to support such visionary initiatives," he said.

During the launch, Dr. Daulasab Muddapur, Medical Officer of Balaganur PHC, Raichur, provided insights via video conference on the new facilities introduced through the CSR project. Several other medical officers from different PHCs also participated virtually.

With the successful implementation of these projects, the Karnataka government continues to push for enhanced healthcare services, ensuring better medical accessibility and quality treatment for rural populations.
