Nationwide Engagement Reaches 28,000 Political Representatives in Just 25 Days
New Delhi, April 1 — In a massive outreach initiative aimed at resolving concerns of political parties, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has conducted nearly 5,000 meetings with party representatives across the country over the past 25 days.According to the Commission, a total of 4,719 meetings were held during this period. These included:
- 40 meetings by state Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs)
- 800 meetings by District Election Officers
- 3,879 meetings by Electoral Registration Officers
The move was initiated following a recent conference of state CEOs held in the national capital. The aim was to address and resolve any pending issues through the appropriate authority at each administrative level.
Action Reports Sought for Further Review
To ensure accountability and continued progress, the ECI has asked all states to submit an action taken report. These reports will help assess the status of the issues raised and the responses provided. In cases where matters remain unresolved within the existing legal framework, the Election Commission has stated it will take them up directly for consideration.
This outreach effort marks a significant step in ensuring transparent and efficient electoral processes as the country moves closer to upcoming elections.
