Kathmandu, February 15 Ahead of the March 5 polls, Nepal's Election Commission on Sunday issued a 63-point code of conduct, asking political parties and candidates to accept financial assistance above NPR 25,000 only through banking transactions.
The Election Commission (EC) also stated that political parties and candidates can campaign until March 2. A key point in the EC's notice regarding the Code of Conduct is that political parties and their candidates must accept financial assistance exceeding NPR 25,000 only through banking transactions.
The EC has asked political parties and their candidates to conduct publicity campaigns within the stipulated dates – until March 2 – and between 7 am and 7 pm, and to cease all campaigns 48 hours before the general election scheduled for March 5.
In line with the previous year's practice, the EC has also restricted the use of plastic materials or polythene for publicity campaigns.
If anyone violates the code of conduct, such candidates will face legal action, including the cancellation of their candidacy or disqualification from participating in any election for six years, the EC notice said.
