Panaji, Feb 3 (PTI) – The Union Budget for 2025-26 is set to significantly benefit Goa's tourism sector with improved flight connectivity and the introduction of e-visas, state minister Rohan Khaunte said on Monday.
Addressing reporters in Panaji, Khaunte highlighted how these initiatives would aid in the sector's recovery post-COVID-19. "E-visas will encourage international tourist arrivals, while the modified UDAN scheme will strengthen regional connectivity, making travel to Goa easier," he said.
Khaunte emphasized that the budget aligns with the nation's vision for Vikasit Bharat 2047, fostering growth through initiatives such as MUDRA loans, enhanced connectivity, e-visas, wellness and spiritual tourism, and skill development. "These measures will also generate employment opportunities for locals in the tourism sector," he added.
He also pointed out that spiritual tourism fits well with the state government's broader vision of promoting Goa beyond its beaches. "Homestay promotion, an integral part of spiritual tourism, has already been backed by a state policy. Additionally, there is great potential for Goa to emerge as a hub for medical tourism," Khaunte noted.
The budget's focus on tourism, infrastructure, and employment generation is expected to drive Goa’s growth, positioning it as a premier travel destination beyond its traditional sun-and-sand appeal.
