Chennai, Feb 26: Evervan Kothari Footwear Ltd, a subsidiary of Phoenix Kothari Group, is set to establish a non-leather footwear manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu with an investment of ₹5,000 crore. This initiative is expected to generate 50,000 job opportunities, significantly boosting employment in the state, the government announced on Wednesday.

The agreement for the project was formalized with an exchange of documents between Evervan Kothari Footwear and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau. The event, held at the Secretariat, was attended by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, Evervan Shoetown Group Chairman Ran, and Bureau MD and CEO Tarez Ahmed.

The Tamil Nadu government’s Department of Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce continues to implement initiatives to attract large-scale investments, generate employment—especially for women—and foster economic growth across the state.

With plans to set up the footwear manufacturing project in Karur and Perambalur districts, the initiative is expected to bring significant employment opportunities to these backward regions. The project will not only uplift local income levels but also contribute to the broader economic development of the state, an official release stated.

This move aligns with Tamil Nadu’s strategy to strengthen its industrial sector and position itself as a leading hub for non-leather footwear production in India.
