Geneva, February 27 – India has issued a sharp rebuttal to Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after Islamabad once again raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Exercising its Right of Reply at the high-level segment of the 58th Regular Session of the UNHRC, India denounced Pakistan as a “failed state” that depends on international handouts and accused it of spreading falsehoods orchestrated by its military-terrorist complex.
Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, delivered India’s response, calling out Pakistan’s “habitual” attempts to mislead the global community.
“Pakistan’s so-called leaders and delegates continue to dutifully spread falsehoods handed down by its military-terrorist complex,” Tyagi asserted, adding that it was “regrettable, yet unsurprising” that the Council’s time was being wasted by a nation that thrives on instability.
“These successes stand as a testament to the people’s trust in the government’s commitment to bringing normalcy to a region scarred by decades of Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism,” he added.
“As a country where human rights abuses and the harboring of UN-sanctioned terrorists are state policies, Pakistan is in no position to lecture anyone,” Tyagi stated.
He further criticized Pakistan for misusing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as a propaganda tool, stating that such tactics were fooling no one.
India’s firm stance at the UNHRC underscores its continued diplomatic strategy of countering Pakistan’s rhetoric on Kashmir while showcasing the region’s development under Indian governance.

Jammu & Kashmir’s Progress Contrasts Pakistan’s Allegations
Emphasizing that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh remain an integral and inalienable part of India, Tyagi highlighted the region’s unprecedented political, social, and economic progress in recent years.“These successes stand as a testament to the people’s trust in the government’s commitment to bringing normalcy to a region scarred by decades of Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism,” he added.
India Slams Pakistan’s Human Rights Record
In a scathing critique, India reminded the Council of Pakistan’s poor human rights record, accusing it of systematic persecution of minorities and erosion of democratic values.“As a country where human rights abuses and the harboring of UN-sanctioned terrorists are state policies, Pakistan is in no position to lecture anyone,” Tyagi stated.

Call for Pakistan to Focus on Internal Governance
Instead of its “unhealthy obsession with India”, Tyagi urged Pakistan to focus on providing governance and justice to its own people. He reiterated that India remains committed to democracy, progress, and dignity for all its people, values that Pakistan "would do well to learn from."India’s firm stance at the UNHRC underscores its continued diplomatic strategy of countering Pakistan’s rhetoric on Kashmir while showcasing the region’s development under Indian governance.
