Pune, May 19 — A man impersonating an Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel was apprehended in Pune in a coordinated operation by the Southern Command Military Intelligence and local police, officials confirmed on Monday.

The accused, identified as Gaurav Kumar, was arrested on Sunday night following a tip-off regarding his suspicious activities. Authorities carried out surveillance and verification before detaining him around 8:40 pm from the Kharadi area.

Upon arrest, officials recovered items associated with the IAF, including two IAF T-shirts, a pair of combat pants, shoes, two IAF badges, and a tracksuit upper.

A case has been registered under Section 168 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Khadki Police Station, which pertains to impersonation of military personnel.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the motive behind the impersonation and assess any potential security threats stemming from the incident.
